Designing Gardens in a Changing Climate

Simon’s talk encompassed soils, plants, biodiversity, hard landscapes and drainage. He looked at the contribution that gardens can make to managing our CO2 and other emissions. He made connections to other issues such as local natural history and the wider landscape.

Hertford's rivers: managing the risk

Ian Davis is both a chartered water and environment manager, and also happens to be a local farmer. He looked after Hertford’s rivers for the Environment Agency for 20 years. He will set Hertford’s rivers into geographical context and highlight their global importance. He will then review current risks and maintenance issues. There will be plenty of photos of the rivers in action and you may find Hertford has more river than you realised.
