HCS Guest speaker series: April

Nick Blatchley, an enthusiastic local historian, hosts an illustrated talk titled ‘Hertfordshire highwaymen’.

To summarise his talk:
Highway robbery is as old as human travel, and Hertfordshire has seen its fair share. From the County’s answer to Robin Hood and the original Wicked Lady, through to the last man to be hanged in England for highway robbery, this talk is the story of footpads and highwaymen (not to mention highwaywomen) in Hertfordshire.
